Tina

Tina is a female mule of extra large size also in her thirties… The story of Tina is quite extraordinary… From times to times, nomad gypsies visit the island to trade animals and mainly to supply the farmers with mules, donkeys or horses of unknown origin with a relatively “good” deal… Tina also landed on the island with them 2 years ago, she already was suffering from a degenerating back condition that the gypsies quickly discovered and understood that it would be impossible to sell her… So she was abandoned in a steep crevasse literally in the middle of nowhere until someone from the neighboring village discovered her. When she arrived we were amazed that this man managed to slowly walk her from the other side of the island to the shelter as he took pity in Tina and did not want to see her die… Tina is the largest animal in SAWA and she came completely wild and terrified of humans…a clear mark of being abused most of her life… Even after the first year it was impossible to get close to her so we gave her the freedom of choice and only approached her to give the necessary treatments when needed. Since last summer Tina teamed up with a female donkey Lemonia and they have truly become best friends. To our great joy Tina started to trust us following the footsteps of her friend Lemonia who is extremely friendly and social…
